Ko Naomi Toilalo ahau - I am Naomi Toilalo.

Welcome to my kāuta (kitchen), where I share delicious recipes and my kete of te reo Māori (basket of the Māori language). I have been sharing bi-lingual recipes and videos on my Whānaukai Instagram and Facebook page for the past five years. Whānaukai is a casual joining together of two common words in te reo Māori. Whānau means family and kai means food. When whānau and kai come together memories are made and people are blessed. This is what I hope for you all.

Through this website, I present to you an easy way to access my content in one beautiful space. You will find in-depth recipes and videos that will guide you through the process of baking the things I love. On top of that, I will teach you little snippets of te reo Māori because I yearn for the preservation of our beautiful language here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. E te whānau (family), there is something so specia E te whānau (family), there is something so special about serving purini (dessert) in seperate glasses and here are the ones I have made over the years. 
All no-bake and simple to do. 🥳

I love finding vintage glasses for the op shop and using them, the Panna Cotta glasses were 50 cents each and I love them so much. 🔍

A Chocolate Sponge Roll - He Keke Kōpungapunga Pōk A Chocolate Sponge Roll - He Keke Kōpungapunga Pōkai Tiakarete really is the dream Purini (desert) for Kirihimete (Christmas). 

I have simplified this recipe slightly and trialled it out at my daughter's birthday last week and it worked so well. It is a great make-ahead dessert too, it can be refrigerated for up to three days before serving which develops such amazing favour.

Chocolate Star Bread - Parāoa Tiakarete Whetū has Chocolate Star Bread - Parāoa Tiakarete Whetū has to be my kids favourite bread and I get it! 🤯

Use your favourite chocolate to fill it with, today I used creamy caramel and it was so lush.

Peanut Butter and Raspberry Jelly Cheesecake - Kek Peanut Butter and Raspberry Jelly Cheesecake - Keke Tīhi Pata Pīnati me te Tieri Rahipere 🤯. 

What a delicious treat to share with your loved ones this Kirihimete - Christmas! 🎄 

Paparanga Pihikete • Biscuit Layer
Whizz 200g Monte Carlo (or butter biscuits) in to a crumb.
Mix with 60g pata kua rewaina (melted butter) and press into a 19–20cm springform tin lined with baking paper. Whakamātaohia - Refrigerate.

Paparanga Pata Pīnati • Peanut Butter Layer
Bloom 1 teaspoon paura tetepe (gelatine powder) in 2 tablespoon wai (water).
Melt 200g tiakarete mā (white chocolate) with ½ cup kirīmi (cream) over a double-boiler. Melt the bloomed gelatine and whisk it into the ganache.
Whip room temperature kirīmi tīhi (cream cheese) with 2 teaspoon wanira (vanilla) + ¼ cup puehu huka (icing sugar). Whip in the ganache in 2 parts. 
Fold in ¾ cup @picspeanutbutter pata pīnati māeneene (smooth peanut butter) and the kirīmi tāwhiuwhiu (whipped cream).
Pour onto the biscuit base. Add 3 tablespoon extra pata pīnati (peanut butter) on top and swirl it in. Refrigerate.

Te Tieri Rahipere • Raspberry Jelly
Bloom 3 teaspoon paura tetepe (gelatine powder) in 3 tablespoon wai (water).
Heat 1 ⅓ cup wai pamakaranete (pomegranate juice) with ⅔ cup huka (sugar) and the bloomed gelatine until dissolved. Cool for 10 mins.
Combine the juice with 2 cups rahipere tio (frozen raspberries). Spoon the rahipere (raspberries) onto the cheesecake, then pour the juice over.
Refrigerate for 6 hours. 
Decorate with whipped cream and whatever beautiful additions you love! ❤️

Fill a simple dough with a butter made with roasted and fresh kāriki (garlic) with fresh herbs and a touch of tīhi (cheese). The flavour is next level!
