E hoa mā (friends), this Easy Spiced Pear Compote needed a little moment to shine on its own. It is perfect for my Pear Choux Buns recipe but is also a great filler for cakes, added on top of banana muffins or added to miraka tepe (yogurt) as a simple dessert. The best thing is, it only takes 15 minutes to whip up.

Ingredient Tips for Easy Spiced Pear Compote:

- Pears: I prefer to use beurre bosc for the pea (pears) are best because they hold their shape well but use what you have. Āporo (apples) can also be used instead.
- Cinnamon: I prefer hinamona (cinnamon) in the compote but any spices will do.
- Lemon Juice: This adds a brightens to the compote but can be replaced with orange or lime juice.
- Maple Syrup: Marahihi māpere (maple syrup) brings a subtle sweetness to the compote but can replaced with 3 tablespoon of sugar if need be.
- Vanilla: This is optional but adds another layer of flavour.
