This Easy Spiced Pear Compote is a simple topping that you will turn to again and again. With just a few simple ingredients and a moment in time, it all comes together.

Easy spiced pear compote is cooking in a black cast iron pan.

E hoa mā (friends), this Easy Spiced Pear Compote needed a little moment to shine on its own. It is perfect for my Pear Choux Buns recipe but is also a great filler for cakes, added on top of banana muffins or added to miraka tepe (yogurt) as a simple dessert. The best thing is, it only takes 15 minutes to whip up.

If it is ārani (orange) that you crave, then my Whole Orange Almond Cake and Plum, Citrus and Almond Cake will absolutely fulfil those cravings. Maybe some Homemade Brandy Snaps are something you want to try?

Ingredient Tips for Easy Spiced Pear Compote:

A grey natural cloth sits on a wooden table. Two small pears with leaves sit on the cloth. Behind it is the white wooden tray with a small bowl of flour and diced butter. A candle burns on the side of frame.
  • Pears: I prefer to use beurre bosc for the pea (pears) are best because they hold their shape well but use what you have. Āporo (apples) can also be used instead.
  • Cinnamon: I prefer hinamona (cinnamon) in the compote but any spices will do.
  • Lemon Juice: This adds a brightens to the compote but can be replaced with orange or lime juice.
  • Maple Syrup: Marahihi māpere (maple syrup) brings a subtle sweetness to the compote but can replaced with 3 tablespoon of sugar if need be.
  • Vanilla: This is optional but adds another layer of flavour.
