About

Kia ora e te iwi whānui – hey there everyone!

Ko Naomi Toilalo ahau – my name is Naomi Toilalo and I live in Tāmaki-makaurau (Auckland) in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Here you will find a range of my favourite recipes that I have created over the years. A step-by-step video is attached to every recipe with all the ingredients in te reo Māori and the English translation next to them. So jump on the waka with me and together let’s do some awesome baking with a heavy sprinkle of te reo Māori (Māori language).

Work with me

I’ve had the privilege of developing many recipes over the years for New Zealand companies such as Whittakers Chocolate, Pic’s Peanut Butter, Comvita Honey and Fly Buys. These recipes are for the purpose of social media marketing through Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok. The majority of the time I join forces with my super talented side-kick, Sarah Henderson. Sarah takes the photography and videography (featured throughout this website) and I do my favourite part, creating recipes. I also create social media content solo in which I do the recipe development, simple videography and photography.

Whatever you are looking for in your social media campaign, I would love to discuss it with you!

No-knead Seeded Oat Bread Loaf

No-knead Seed and Oat Bread Loaf – Rohi Parāoa Poke-kore Ōti me ngā Kākano The price of kai (food) in Aotearoa (New Zealand) are through the roof these days. Some of the price hikes make sense and then other things leave me scratching my head. One of things that seems outrageous is the price of…

The Best Oaty Caramel Slice Ever!

Keke Tapatahi Karamea Ōti – Caramel Oat Slice I grew up on a farm down in South Otago. I was surrounded by incredible bakers, including my Mum and Aunties but also our neighbours. This slice reminds me of one of my friend’s Mum, her name is Pam and she was one of the best bakers…

Pani Popo – Samoan Coconut Buns

PANI POPO (Coconut Buns) – Parāoa Kokonati My Samoan husband Paul introduced me to pani popo and I am so glad that he did! Are they the Samoan alternative to the cinnamon scroll? Tērā pea – perhaps! They are soft, sweet buns, cooked in a delicious, creamy coconut sauce. I have added coconut milk in…

Bacon, Cheese and Onion Muffins – Mawhene Pēkana, Tīhi me te Aniana This recipe has been swirling around in my brain now for a couple of years and it is finally ready to be set free in to the world. It started as an image in my mind – a savoury muffin with a cream…

Parmesan Wafers

Parmesan Wafers I am a complete sucker for beautiful decorations and especially wafers, shards or rustic shapes. What I also love is if a decoration only takes five minutes to make like these parmesan wafers do. They couldn’t be easier – simply take a piece of parmesan cheese and finely grate it on to a…
