Ko Naomi Toilalo ahau – I am Naomi Toilalo.

Welcome to my kāuta (kitchen), where I share delicious recipes and my kete of te reo Māori (basket of the Māori language). I have been sharing bi-lingual recipes and videos on my Whānaukai Instagram and Facebook page for the past five years. Whānaukai is a casual joining together of two common words in te reo Māori. Whānau means family and kai means food. When whānau and kai come together memories are made and people are blessed. This is what I hope for you all.

Through this website, I present to you an easy way to access my content in one beautiful space. You will find in-depth recipes and videos that will guide you through the process of baking the things I love. On top of that, I will teach you little snippets of te reo Māori because I yearn for the preservation of our beautiful language here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Nau mai, whakatau mai nei ki tōku kāuta – welcome to my kitchen. I am so glad you are here!

Tēnā koutou e hoa mā, if you have whānau who a Tēnā koutou e hoa mā, if you have whānau who are sick like we have at the moment, maybe you need a little bit sunshine in the form of this NO-BAKE LEMON CHEESECAKE that tastes like happiness. So many of you have made it and it makes me so happy.

If you look closely at the mixture, when I am whipping it, you can see lumps. It doesn't effect the flavour but smooth is absolutely better. The best way to combat that (and not do as I did), is to bring the cream cheese to room temperature for at least an hour before whipping it and your mixture will be lump free! 🥳

You can find the recipe in the cakes section of my website or through this link: https://whanaukai.nz/chilled-lemon-and-white-chocolate-cheesecake/

You can also type RĒMANA or LEMON in the comments and I can send you the recipe.

No-bake Nougat Slice or No-bake Marshmallow Slice No-bake Nougat Slice or No-bake Marshmallow Slice - that is the two names that I have for this slice but I can't decide 🧐!

Whatever it is called, it starts with a cookie base, then we whip kahu hēki (egg whites) and combine it with a hot sugar syrup. Once it is whipped to perfection we fold through your favourite flavours, set it for 20 minutes then top with tiakarete (chocolate) and pb (optional).

You can find the recipe here https://whanaukai.nz/nougat-slice-no-bake/ or in the Slices section on my website.

You can also type MĀNGOHE or MARSHMALLOW in to the comments and I'll send you the recipe. 😍
